This Privacy Policy describes how ItsMoreThanATextbook, LLC ("It's More Than A Textbook") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with your use of our website (the "Services"). What Information Do We Collect?

When a user purchases access to It's More Than A Textbook, you provide us with your first and last name, a username, a password, in addition to information about your location. The location information is used purely for us to correctly apply VAT/tax to your final purchase. You also provide us with credit card information, which is shared with our payment processor, Stripe.

Information We Collect When You Use Our Services

As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. In addition, when you use our Services, we may collect certain information automatically from your device. This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system. To collect this information, a Cookie may be set on your computer or device when you visit our Services. Cookies contain a small amount of information that allows our web servers to recognize you. We store information that we collect through Cookies, in our database, and in log files.

What do we do with the Information we collect?

We will use contact information to email acknowledgment of purchase. We will also use the purchase information to put you in the correct course. Finally, should there be any systemwide issues, we will use your email address to contact you. We will not send you any promotional emails. In addition, your email, first and last names will be shared with the Instructor from whom you are taking the Course which is tied to the eText which you purchased.

Legal Basis for Processing Personal Information

Our legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described above is that it is the only way to complete a purchase, be correctly tied to a specific course, and enable us to contact you should there be any issues.

Your Choices

If you no longer would like access to your eText and would like to be removed from the system, then we can anonymize your account upon request. Please note that we will still retain a reference to your credit card information as held by Stripe so that we may comply with tax and accounting laws.

Disclosure of Information

We will not disclose your email address, or other personal information, to anyone unless we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with a subpoena, court order, law, or regulation. We may disclose your personal information to the extent required to fulfill our legal obligation.

Security

All personal information is collected via HTTPS communication and is kept in a database on our server, which is hosted by MDDHosting. We employ a variety of security technologies and measures designed to protect information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. The measures we use are designed to provide a level of security appropriate to the risk of processing your personal information. However, please bear in mind that the Internet cannot be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

Data Retention

We retain personal information we collect from you where we have an ongoing legitimate business need to do so (for example, to continue to provide you access to your eText or to comply with applicable legal, tax, or accounting requirements). We also backup all data to a server hosted on Amazon Web Services and store a copy of your data on a password protected local machine as part of our nightly backups.

Business transfer

If It's More Than A Textbook is involved in a business acquisition, merger, sale, reorganization, or bankruptcy then your personal information may be transferred as part of the restructuring. Either the acquiring institution will continue to maintain the current Privacy Policy or you will be given the opportunity to opt-out of the transfer; however, if you opt-out of the transfer, you will no longer have access to your eText.

The Privacy Policy may be modified from time to time, so please review it frequently. You will be able to find a link to the most updated version of the Privacy Policy on the Homepage.
